Adolescent therapy
Adolescence is both an exciting and challenging time. A young person is negotiating many physical, hormonal and emotional changes as well as making his or her own significant choices for the first time. The developmental tasks of this stage of life involve both figuring out who one is and finding one’s unique identity, while at the same time trying to “fit in” and “stand out” simultaneously. It is complicated!
Some of the reasons you may be seeking therapy for yourself or perhaps you as a parent seeking therapy for your teenager, include: mood swings that seem unmanageable, questions about life, risk-taking behaviour, trouble at school, not fitting in, difficulties with friends or peer group, teenage pregnancy, problems with body-image or self-esteem, getting into fights, or stealing.
